Early NFL Win Predictions: Picking Out Some Value Choices

2019 NFL Football Regular Season Wins Preview, Odds and Expert Predictions

Summer time can be a great time to make some NFL futures picks. The league might be sleeping, but we at LSVB aren’t. Here we take a look at a couple of teams whose win totals for 2019-20 stand out as great value.

First up are the Dallas Cowboys who are EVEN for over 9 wins and -130 for under 9 wins next season.

Health is always going to be the great unknown for any NFL team, but all things being equal, I love what Dallas has done so far in the offseason to position themselves for a real Super Bowl run next season.

This is a team coming off a division championship that also made it to the second round of the NFL playoffs. They did that with some of their worst offensive line play in recent years.

This year, Travis Frederick is back at center to anchor the line after missing all of last year with the surprise diagnosis of guillette barre syndrome. WR Amari Cooper starts the season with his new team and WR Michael Gallup is in year two after showing a ton of promise as a rookie. Jason Whitten is back at tight end and of course Ezekiel Elliott is there to drive the engine with Dak Prescott who has piloted his team to a 32-16 record in three years at the helm.

On defense Robert Quinn was signed to bookend Demarcus Lawrence, the linebacker duo of Jaylen Smith and Leighton Vander Esch were dynamite last year and are just starting to enter their primes and Byron Jones is there to anchor the secondary.

There are no glaring weaknesses on this team and they also have a September schedule to help create some early momentum. Dates with the Packers, Bears, Vikings and Patriots make for a tough out of division schedule, but I am bullish on their chances to make it to 10 or 11 wins next year.

Looking farther south in the state, the Houston Texans are +105 to make it to 8.5 wins and -135 for the under.

The AFC South turned into one of the most competitive divisions in the league last year with three teams making it to nine wins and a Jaguars team that was in the AFC championship the year before falling back to Earth.

It should be just as competitive this year, but the Texans should be right there in the mix in spite of some front office drama in the offseason. Deshaun Watson is entering year three in the league and was already terrific last year coming off a torn ACL.

DeAndre Hopkins is arguably the best WR in the NFL at this moment and Will Fuller should be back to full health as a WR2 after tearing his ACL last October.

On defense the trio of JJ Watt, Jadeveon Clowney and Whitney Mercilus remain elite in the front seven. This team has some question at running back with a 28-year old Lamar Miller leading the group and an offense line that has had its issues, but this is a group that’s made it to nine wins in four of the last five years and huge talent at key positions that are keys to winning in the modern NFL. I think they’ll do it again this year.
