2021 3M Open Preview, Golf Tournament Odds, Value Bet, Prop Bets and Predictions

It is a quick turnaround for the favorites who went deep into Sunday at the Open in England to return stateside and be in top form.

At the top of that list is Louis Oosthuizen (+1400) who was looking to be just the seventh winner of the Open to lead from start to finish. Instead, after being in control of the tournament for most of the week, he made a few key errors down the stretch to finish +1 on the day and in third place, yet another close call at a Major.

One thing working in his favor, is that this week’s course favors long hitters who are also excellent putters and that is definitely one of his strengths. The last two winning scores were -19 and -21.

One golfer looking to build off a terrific Sunday at the Open is second favorite Tony Finau (+1600). The 31-year-old finished T15 last week, but he saved his best for last shooting a -3 on Sunday to post a -5 overall for the tournament.

Dustin Johnson (+800) is the favorite and he too put together a very strong Sunday with a -3 to finish at -7 and T8 after a week in which he struggled for parts of it. He’s now finished top-25 in four straight events after struggling for large portions of the year.

This is just the third ever time this event has been held, and the previous winners, Matthew Wolff (+2800), and Michael Thompson (+10000) are good indicators that a winner this week could come from well down the list of favorites. Both started at +12500 odds when they won.

One favorite mid-tier pick this week will be Bubba Watson (+3300) who missed the Open due to Covid protocols. But he’s back now and has played well in his last two tournaments finishing sixth at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and T19 at the Travelers.

Luke List (+5000) has finished T5 and T4 at his last two tournaments, both also relatively easy courses. His long game makes him a strong pick this week, as long as his putter doesn’t let him down.

Brandon Hagy (+10000) is a great long shot pick this week. He finished T18 at the John Deere after a weak Sunday. He was top 10 entering the final round. His previous tournament was at the Rocket Mortgage Classic where he finished T6. He is a long bomber that will be counting on a strong putter to turn in another top results.

Byeong-Hun An (+20000) is still looking for his first career win after being the youngest ever winner of the US Amateur as a 17-year-old. He’s 29 now and he’s coming off a surprisingly strong result at the Open finishing T26. At a tournament where surprise winners have been the norm, he fits the bill
