2021 Food City Dirt Race NASCAR Cup Series Race Preview, Odds, Props and Predictions

Bet at your own risk this weekend as Bristol Motor Speedway gets set to host the first NASCAR dirt race in over 50 years. As a result there really are no past results to work with for most of these drivers, especially at this level.

It’s a new experience for most. Talent behind the wheel and driver’s group are the things to look for in this unique race.

Kyle Larson (+250) is the strong favorite and Christopher Bell (+650) is the only other driver with odds below +1000. Both have experience driving on dirt in lower levels of racing, albeit several years ago.

Read on to see our picks and if a favorite will prevail this weekend.

The Prediction: (Kyle Larson #5 +250)
Larson is the overwhelming favorite for two reasons. On the one hand with his new team, Hendricks, he’s having the best season of his young career. He’s got a win, a second and a fourth-place result in the past four races and is the overall points leader. On the other, he’s won the last two Chilli Bowls, thought of as the Daytona 500 of dirt racing. One caveat there, is that midget cars are used to run those events.

Others to Consider:
Bell (+650) is an up and comer, in just his second season on the circuit. But he’s finished top-ten in three of his last five races. He was also the Chili Bowl winner from 2017 to 2019 and has been driving on dirt for years. Other dirt specialists to consider include Stewart Friesen +2500, Mike Marlar +5000 and Shane Golobic +10000. From the regulars on tour, Kyle Busch has extensive experience on dirt from a decade ago. He’s also a 60-time Truck Series winner and is getting terrific odds at +1200

Propping up:

  1. Take Denny Hamlin #11 +350 for Top 3 Finish
  2. Take Ryan Blaney #12 +450 for Top 3 Finish
  3. Take Over 9.5 at -115 Total Cautions
  4. Driver H2H Match Up Take Austin Dillon #3 EVEN over Chase Briscoe #14
  5. Long Shot Bets - Mike Marlar #66 Top 3 Finish +1400
