Many of World’s Top Golfers Playing in this no-Cut Event

2021 The CJ Cup Betting Preview, PGA Golf Odds, Value Bet, Props and Predictions

Dustin Johnson, Justin Thomas, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Speith and many of the world’s top golfers will be in Las Vegas this week for the CJ Cup.

This is a tournament usually held in Korea, but it’s come over to the United States the past couple of years due to Covid protocols and this is the first time it’ll be held at Shadow Creek. The top 60 in the 2021 FedEx standings have been invited and most of them will be here. With a smaller 78-man field, there will be no cut this week.

There is no prior data from which to judge the course, but it has wide fairways and is likely to favor distance golfers.

Dustin Johnson (+1200) last played at the Ryder Cup and he played very much like a golfer befitting the number two rank in the world.

Xander Schauffele (+1400) could have a leg up on the field with Las Vegas being his primary residence. He finished second here last year. That is just one of the 11 second or third place finishes since his last tour win in 2019.

Colin Morikawa (+1400) is another local who also happens to be a member at the Summit Club. He’ll know this layout better than anyone. He also had had a dominant Ryder Cup performance, but if there’s one knock against him is that the long game off the tee is not his strength. On the other hand, he’s an elite iron player and should be able to make up the difference.

Justin Thomas (+1600) is a two-time winner of this event, winning last year at a different course in the Las Vegas area and in 2018 in South Korea.

Viktor Hovland (+2500) came out firing last week, striking his approach shots as well as he’s ever done on Tour. Unfortunately, his green game was also the worst its ever been in his young career. The smart bet is that the former is a trend and the latter the outlier for one of the most talented young players in the world.

Jason Kokrak (+5000) is the defending champion after he shot a stellar -20 last year. He’s one of the top five golfers in the past 24 rounds in no-cut events and he’s still getting excellent odds.

Russell Henley (+6600) is another golfer with long odds who is in the top-five in the last six no-cut events on the tour. His approach game in these kinds of events is truly elite. Last week he could not get his short game working. If can put it all together, a win is well within the realm of possibility.

Jhonattan Vegas (+12500) is a name that’s flying under the radar, but if someone from the field is going to rise all the way to a win against this stellar field it just might be him. He’s got three top-10 results and three more in the top 20 in his last ten events.
