Red Sox at Yankees Kicks off MLB’s Second Half - Postponed

MLB Odds, Parlay Picks, Prop Bets Predictions on Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees

The Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees will have national attention as the lone game on Thursday to start the second half of MLB’s season.

The Red Sox enter play as one of the surprise teams of the season, essentially tied with the White Sox and Astros for the best record in the American League.

The Yankees enter play as one of the more disappointing teams for a team that was expected to contend for the World Series. They are just three games above .500, eight games behind Boston and 4.5 games behind in the wild card race.

New York did end their first half on a strong note posting a 5-2 record in their last seven that included taking two of three in Houston just before the break.

Boston in the meanwhile tailed off at the very end, dropping four of their last five games to the Angels and Phillies. They were 10-1 in their previous 11 prior to that.

In the month of July, Boston is averaging 5.4 RPG and their team ERA is 4.04

Rafael Devers leads the way with 10 RBIs and a .302 average in his last ten games.

The bullpen is likely welcoming the All Star break as four pitchers with at least three appearances this month have an ERA of 4.50 or worse. Matt Andriese with a 10.80 ERA Josh Taylor with a 13.50 ERA are at the bottom of the list.

The Yankees are averaging 4.56 RPG and their team ERA is 3.94

Luke Voit is a welcome return to the lineup after missing a month from May to late June. He’s hitting .385 in eight games in July. Gio Urshela with 6 RBIs and a .294 average and Aaron Judge with three home runs and five RBIs are also contributing well this month.

The bullpen also likely appreciating the rest as Chad Green led the way with five appearances in July and has a 5.40 ERA. Closer Aroldis Chapman only pitched twice, but he gave up two hits, walked three and allowed three runs in one inning of work. Five relievers have an ERA of 5.40 or worse in July.

Probable Pitchers:
Boston: Eduardo Rodriguez (6-5) ERA: 5.52
NY Yankees: Domingo German (4-5) ERA: 4.44

NY Yankees -110 O/U 10u (-120)

The Yankees have yet to announce their pitcher as of this writing, while the Red Sox are going with Eduardo Rodriguez. He’s had his struggles through May and June, but he has pitched well against the Yankees and the Red Sox have supported him with lots of runs.

He pitched against New York twice in June, allowing five runs in 11.1 innings (4.04 ERA) with Boston winning 9-2 and 7-3. He had a streak of three quality starts in a row -against Tampa Bay, the Yankees and Oakland- snapped when he allowed four runs in five innings in a 5-4 loss to the Angels last time out.
