The Top Teams in the West Go Head-to Head with Utah Visiting Phoenix

NBA Wednesday Betting Preview, Odds, Picks Against the Spread & Parlay Predictions

The two hottest teams in the NBA are also the number one and number two seeds in the Western Conference. Wednesday night we’ll be treated to a terrific matchup as the Utah Jazz visit the Phoenix Suns.

Both teams are 9-1 in their last ten games and the Suns are coming into the game winners of their last six. The Jazz had a nine-game winning streak snapped last time out.

A second featured matchup is between old rivals, the New York Knicks and Boston Celtics. Both teams have identical 25-26 records as they compete for positioning at the bottom of the playoff race in the East. They currently occupy the seventh and eighth seeds in the East and are each 5-5 in their last ten and trying to snap one-game losing streaks.

Read on to see my picks for Wednesday night.

New York Knicks vs. Boston Celtics (NBCS-BOS, 7:30 pm ET) - Boston -3 - O/U 209½
The Celtics are just 6-9 since the All Star break and are coming off a 106-96 loss to the 76ers last time out.

New York is 7-8 since the All-Star break. They’ve lost four of their last five, including defeats to the Heat, Mavericks and most recently the Nets, 114-112.

The Knicks have an excellent away record ATS, posting a 16-11 mark, but they are averaging just 103.4 PPG on the road this season and Boston is allowing 108.3 PPG at home.

Then again, the Knicks have best road defense in the NBA, allowing 103.6 PPG. Boston is averaging 112.3 PPG at home.

These are two of the better defensive teams in the league.

Both teams have struggled lately, but the Knicks have faced much tougher opponents, coming up just short in recent losses to the Bucks, 76ers (twice) and Nets. I think they’ll prevail here.
The Pick: Knicks 107-102 - New York +125 & Under 209½

Utah Jazz vs. Phoenix Suns (ESPN, 10:00 pm ET) - Utah -1½ - O/U 227
The Suns are home underdogs in spite being 5-0 at home as part of this streak. These teams have met once this season, with the Suns prevailing on the road 106-95 back on December 31st. Most of the Suns recent wins have come against teams with losing records. They do have two victories over the banged-up Lakers in March and one each versus the Trail Blazers and Heat. Devin Booker averaged 25.5 PPG in 14 games in March. Chris Paul put up 14.9 PPG and 7.9 APG.

The Jazz have been led by a red-hot Donovan Mitchell who put up 28.8 PPG in 12 March games. He’s down to 21.3 PPG through three April games, but the team is averaging 117.7 PPG in those games. Utah’s most impressive win through their recent streak was a 118-88 win over the Nets on March 24th. The rest of their wins have come against teams below .500.

Both of these teams have been among the best offensively and defensively this season. They have elite players all over the court. Give me the home underdog to cover in this case with little separating them.
The Pick: Suns 115-110 - Phoenix EVEN & Under 227
