#3 Ohio State Heavy Favorites vs #12 Oregon, Battle of Iowa is Match-up of Two Top-10 Teams

NCAA Football Week 2 Odds & Parlay Predictions on Iowa Hawkeyes vs Iowa State Cyclones

#3 Ohio State had a tougher than expected win on the road at Minnesota to kick off last week’s slate of games. This week they’ll take on an Oregon Ducks team that had a tougher than expected home win against Fresno State in their season opener.

It was a back-and-forth affair for the Buckeyes with multiple lead changes against the Golden Gophers and Minnesota managed to keep it within one score most of the way before Ohio State pulled away for the 45-31 win.

C.J. Stroud was terrific in his first college game throwing four touchdowns and 294 yards on just 13 completions.

The defense managed a couple of sacks and had a couple of fumble recoveries as well.

Oregon broke out to a 21-6 lead over the Bulldogs, but Fresno State came all the way back to take a 24-21 lead early in the fourth quarter.

Ten unanswered points were the difference down the stretch in a 31-24 win.

The defense managed to produce three fumbles and four sacks. Down the stretch when it really counted, they forced a fumble, a three and out and a four and out to end the game.

Ohio State has a bevy of big play performers, but so does Oregon. Now we’ll see if they can put it together for four quarters on the road in front of 100,000 opposing fans.

The ninth ranked Iowa State Cyclones will be taking on their intrastate rival Iowa Hawkeyes who are ranked tenth.

Iowa State had a grind it out win over Northern Iowa 16-10 in their season opener. It was a game they trailed 7-0 early and led 13-10 by halftime. The defense pitched a shutout the rest of the way and the offense tacked on a fourth quarter insurance field goal.

Heisman candidate Brock Purdy was efficient but unspectacular going 21-26 for 199 yards.

Iowa was impressive as they beat #17 Indiana to the tune of a 34-6 victory.

They dominated in all facets of the game, forcing three interceptions and holding Indiana to 233 total yards and 11 first downs. They led 14-0 less than two and a half minutes into the game. They scored their first touchdown on a 56-yard run by Tyler Goodson and their second on a 30-yard interception return and never looked back.

Iowa has not lost to Iowa State since 2014.

Iowa State Cyclones had one of the best defenses in the nation last year and they returned 10 of 11 starters this year.

Iowa has shown with their performance last week that they may have a defense to match.

Oregon (12) at Ohio State (3) (FOX, 12:00 pm ET)
Ohio State at -14½ O/U 65

I think Oregon has the ability to stay with Ohio State and make a real game of it. Their defense coming up big down the stretch last week, albeit against an FBS team is a confidence builder and I think they cover on the road.
The Pick: Ohio State 35-31
Oregon +14½ (-115) & Under 65 (-105)

Iowa (10) at Iowa State (9) (ABC, 4:30 pm ET)
Iowa State at -4 O/U 46

Not much separates these teams. They both play smashmouth football, have tough running games and excellent defenses. I think it’ll go down to the wire.
The Pick: Iowa 21-20
Iowa +150 & Under 46 (-115)
A $50 Parlay Bet will return $183 in Profit
