NCAA March Madness Gonzaga vs Baylor Pick

NCAA Tournament Championship Game Betting Odds, Picks Against the Spread & Parlay Predictions

Monday night we’ll be treated to an NCAA championship game that features the two best and most talented teams in the country going head-to-head when the Gonzaga Bulldogs face off against the Baylor Bears.

Gonzaga made it after beating UCLA in one of the most thrilling college basketball games in recent memory. It was a game that featured 19 lead changes, was tight from start to finish and was decided when future lottery pick, Jalen Suggs beat the buzzer with a long distance three-pointer for the 93-90 overtime win.

Baylor dismantled a Houston team that had the best defense in the tournament heading into the game. But they had yet to face a team as complete as Baylor (or one that was a single seed) and the result was a 78-59 thrashing.

A Gonzaga win will be the first in their program’s history. A Baylor win will be their first since 1948. These were also the two best regular season teams last year before Covid cancelled March Madness. This game is literally two years in the making.

Read on to see who we like to win Monday’s championship game.

Gonzaga (1) vs. Baylor (1) (CBS, 9:00 pm ET) - Gonzaga -4½ - O/U 159
Both of these teams are 4-1 ATS in the tournament. Gonzaga is just 16-13-2 overall ATS this year and Baylor is 19-10.

Gonzaga is led by a dynamic threesome of All-American players including Suggs, the teams scoring leader Drew Timme and Corey Kispert. What’s more, it was Joel Ayayi who led the team in scoring on Saturday and Andrew Nemhard also finished in double digits in the game. If they have one weak spot, it’s that they rely heavily on these five and much less on their bench.

Baylor on the other hand has a deeper cast of players that has helped them match up with a variety of different opponents and styles in this tournament.

They are led by their terrific backcourt of Davion Mitchell, Jared Butler and McCio Teague. Mitchell was also the recipient of the Naismith award for top defensive player in the nation. He’ll be counted on heavily to neutralize Suggs.

UCLA hit an incredible 57% of their shots against Gonzaga -a team that was top-ten in defense this year-, most of them from the post and Baylor may look to study that film. If they can hit similar numbers, they should have the defense to slow down Gonzaga.

The Bulldogs are sure to believe they are a team of destiny after the way they beat the Bruins on Saturday. I think so too.
The Pick: Gonzaga 87-80 - Gonzaga -4½ & Over 159
