NCAA Tournament Elite Eight Betting Odds, Picks Against the Spread & Free Predictions

Two impressive looking California teams will try to pull off epic upsets of number one seeds who have looked dominant in the tournament to this point.

First up, it’s #6-seed USC Trojans taking on the top overall seed, Gonzaga Bulldogs. That will be followed by #11-seed UCLA Bruins taking on 1-seed Michigan Wolverines.

USC (6) vs. Gonzaga (1) (TBS, 7:15 pm ET) - Gonzaga -8½ O/U 153
USC has arguably been the surprise of the tournament. It’s not just that they’ve made it to the Elite Eight, it’s the dominant fashion in which they’ve succeeded. That includes a 14-win point over an Oregon team on Sunday that had previously dominated 3-seed Iowa. They’ve outscored opponents by 64 points, including their own dominant win over a 3-seed, seed, beating Kansas by 24 points. In Evan Mobley they have a projected top-three NBA pick leading the way. He’s been amazing at opening up space for his teammates, and players like Isaiah White (22 points vs. Oregon) and Tahj Eaddy (20 points) have been capitalizing.

Gonzaga is one team that can match that kind of dominance, not only in the tournament but all season. They have now won an astounding 28 of 29 games this season by double digits on their way to a perfect 29-0 record. Last time out they were in total control against 5-seed Creighton, beating them 83-65.

And as good as their top players - Corey Kispert, Jalen Suggs and Drew Timme have been, what has helped make them so lethal is that the supporting cast of Andrew Nembhard and Joel Ayayi have also been excellent.

Eventually though, Gonzaga is going to run into a real challenge, and the multitude of weapons the Trojans can offer, makes this a tough cover.
The Pick: Gonzaga 79-73 - USC +8½ Under 153

UCLA (11) vs. Michigan (1) (TBS, 9:57 pm ET) - Michigan -7 O/U 135
Michigan presents a unique problem for most NCAA teams, in that they have a 7’1” center, Hunter Dickinson who operates the post at an elite NBA level style of play, creating space and opportunities for the many talented players on the Wolverines to operate. When they are in the flow, as they have been in this tournament, they present matchup problems that are incredibly hard to solve. And that’s why in their three wins in the tournament, five different players have led or tied for the lead in scoring.

UCLA in the meanwhile, beat Alabama last time out, considered by many to be the best 2-seed in the tournament. Alabama has the third rated defense in the nation, yet the Bruins made it look easy putting up 88 points in the win and are now averaging an impressive 78.5 PPG in their four tournament games.

Michigan’s ceiling seems to be on a whole other level. I don’t think UCLA has the answer for Dickinson and I think the Wolverines momentum carries over here.
The Pick: Michigan 85-75 - Michigan -7 Over 135
