After stumbling to five losses in their last six games, the Dallas Mavericks will look to get back on track when they host the Miami Heat on Friday. The Mavericks have struggled lately, most recently losing a 130 to 122 matchup against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday and disappointing coach Jason Kidd. In contrast, the Heat have been finding their footing – winning four of the last five games after a 124 to 98 road victory over New Orleans Pelicans. One of the keys for the Heat is the play of Jimmy Butler, who has made getting to the foul line an artform. He has been a reliable presence on offense, using his skill and savvy to get himself frequent trips to the charity stripe. It’s sure to be an interesting game with plenty of storylines to dive into as Butler goes up against NBA star and MVP Candidate, Luka Dončić. Which team will come out victorious? Well lets start off with the injury report.
Dallas starting center, Christian Wood, suffered a fractured left thumb during Wednesday’s loss to the Hawks, he will miss at least three games. Though, Tim Hardaway Junior is expected to play as he comes back from a left ankle sprain. As for the heat, they’re still without Duncan Robinson.
When we look at the betting trends, the Heat are 4-0 against the spread in their last 4 road games versus a team with a home winning percentage of greater than 60%. As for the Mavs, well they’re 1-5 against the spread in their last 6 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game. These are definitely trends to consider as Miami hasn’t scored under 100 points since December 12th.
With all that said, i’m taking the Miami Heat on the money line at -110 as my free pick for tonight’s game. Without they’re starting center, Christian Wood, the Mavs will have a tough time keeping up with Miami Star center Bam Adebayo. Look for him to have a big game!
