Houston Rockets Betting Preview
Houston rolls into Denver trying to build consistency as the postseason picture begins to tighten in the Western Conference. The Rockets recently picked up a 113-99 win over Toronto, continuing a stretch where they have alternated wins and losses across their last six games.
The offense continues to run through Kevin Durant, who remains one of the league’s most dangerous scorers even at age 37. Durant is averaging 26.1 points per game and recently dropped 29 points in the win over Toronto. Earlier this season he torched Denver for 31 points in a 115-101 Rockets victory, proving he still has the ability to take over this matchup.
Houston’s biggest concern has been defense. The Rockets allowed 145 points in a loss to San Antonio earlier in the week, which was well above their season average allowed. Head coach Ime Udoka has stressed the importance of improving toughness and defensive focus as the playoffs approach.
The Rockets enter this matchup currently sitting near the top tier of the Western standings, but playing on the second night of a back-to-back could test their depth against a Denver team eager to get back on track.
Rockets Player Prop Pick: Kevin Durant Over 24.5 Points
Durant remains Houston’s primary scorer and has already proven he can dominate this matchup earlier in the season.
Denver Nuggets Betting Preview
Denver finally has its starting lineup back together after months of injury chaos, but the results have not followed immediately. The Nuggets opened the season 8-2 with their original starters but have dropped their first two games since that lineup returned last week.
Injuries took their toll throughout the season. Christian Braun and Aaron Gordon were sidelined early, and later Cameron Johnson and Nikola Jokic dealt with knee issues. At one point, Denver was missing its entire starting group.
Aaron Gordon has battled hamstring issues all year and has missed 40 games, though he says he feels physically ready and only needs to regain rhythm and pace.
Despite the recent slide, Denver remains a dangerous team thanks largely to Nikola Jokic. The MVP candidate is producing another incredible season with 28.9 points per game while also leading the entire NBA with 12.5 rebounds and 10.3 assists per contest.
Jamal Murray has also elevated his scoring, averaging a career high 25.4 points per game. If the Nuggets regain their early season chemistry, they could quickly climb back up the Western standings.
Denver currently sits sixth in the conference but is only a game and a half behind Houston. A win in this matchup would tighten that gap considerably.
Nuggets Player Prop Pick: Nikola Jokic Over 9.5 Assists
Jokic leads the NBA in assists among centers and regularly orchestrates Denver’s entire offense.
NBA Final Score & Expert Prediction
Denver enters as a 7 point favorite with the total set at 230.5. While Houston has the scoring punch to keep games competitive, playing the second night of a back-to-back against a motivated Denver squad is a difficult spot.
Expect the Nuggets to lean heavily on Jokic’s playmaking and Murray’s scoring to control the pace.
Final Score: Nuggets 120, Rockets 112
