LVSB here, your favorite Las Vegas Sports Betting analyst who believes two things in life are certain: college basketball chaos and bettors convincing themselves a 14.5 point spread is “free money.”
Saturday night the Big 12 champs roll into Boulder as No. 2 Arizona visits Colorado. Arizona is laying 14.5 points with the total sitting at 156.5. That tells you one thing right away: the books think Arizona is bringing a flamethrower while Colorado tries to keep the building from burning down.
Let’s break down this potential blowout before someone bets their rent money on a “sure thing.”
Arizona Wildcats: Conference Champions Rolling
Arizona enters this matchup sitting pretty at 28-2 and already holding the Big 12 regular season title. The Wildcats have been steamrolling opponents lately with five straight wins, including victories over ranked teams like BYU, Houston, Kansas and Iowa State.
In other words, Arizona isn’t just winning games. They’re beating teams that actually know how to play basketball.
Freshman Brayden Burries leads the Wildcats with 15.5 points per game and continues to be the offensive spark plug. But the real identity of this team is size and rebounding.
Arizona leads the Big 12 with 43.2 rebounds per game. That basically means if Arizona misses a shot, they politely grab the ball again and try another one.
Tobe Awaka averages 9.6 rebounds a night while 7-foot-2 Motiejus Krivas adds 8.2 boards per game. When those two are controlling the glass, opponents tend to spend the evening chasing rebounds and questioning their life choices.
Arizona recently celebrated its conference title by knocking off No. 6 Iowa State 73-57. They cut the nets, took pictures and then reminded themselves the real goal is still March.
Colorado Buffaloes: Underdog Mountain Test
Colorado comes into this game at 17-13 and trying to improve its positioning for the Big 12 tournament. The Buffaloes have won three of their last four games, although those victories came against Oklahoma State, Kansas State and Utah. Respectfully, that’s not exactly the NBA All Star roster.
Still, Colorado has been solid at home with a 13-4 record in Boulder. The altitude alone has ruined many road teams’ nights over the years.
Freshman guard Isaiah Johnson leads the offense with 16.6 points per game and continues chasing Colorado’s freshman scoring record. In the recent win at Utah, Johnson dropped 22 points while teammate Bangot Dak added 22 points and 10 rebounds.
Colorado’s frontcourt size with Dak and Sebastian Rancik will at least give them bodies to throw at Arizona’s towering lineup.
But stopping Arizona’s rebounding advantage for forty minutes is another story entirely.
LVSB betting prediction
Arizona has been too dominant lately to expect a major scare here. They control the glass, play efficient offense and come into Boulder with championship level confidence.
Colorado’s home crowd should keep things lively early, but over the full game Arizona’s depth and size advantage should take over.
Final Score: Arizona 88, Colorado 70
Lean: Arizona -14.5
Total: Over 156.5
