Game Preview

Milwaukee Brewers second baseman Brice Turang has faced a challenging July, but his performance on Sunday could signal a turnaround as the Brewers prepare to host the Atlanta Braves in a three-game series starting Monday.

Turang went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Milwaukee’s 6-2 victory over the Miami Marlins, marking his first multi-hit game since July 3. He also made notable defensive plays with two diving catches that helped maintain a one-run lead. Despite struggling at the plate recently, with a .158 average in July, Turang remains highly valued by the Brewers.

"He’s been incredible," said manager Pat Murphy, emphasizing Turang’s importance despite his recent slump. "He plays every day and shows up to compete."

Closer Devin Williams praised Turang’s defensive skills, calling him the best second baseman in the league.

The Brewers, leading the National League Central by six games over the St. Louis Cardinals, will face the Braves for the first time this season. Catcher William Contreras, formerly of Atlanta, has excel against his former team with a .308 average and .885 OPS in six games.

Milwaukee’s right-hander Colin Rea (9-3, 3.60 ERA) will start, holding a 5.09 ERA in three career starts against the Braves. Meanwhile, Atlanta aims to strengthen its position in the National League wild-card race after a 3-6 post-All-Star break performance.
