Game Preview

Since returning from the All-Star break, the Baltimore Orioles’ bats have come alive, producing nine runs on Friday and eight on Saturday. This surge has positioned them for a potential three-game sweep against the Texas Rangers in Arlington as they head into Sunday’s series finale.

In just two games, the Orioles have matched their run total from the seven games prior to the break, during which they went 2-5 and struggled to score more than three runs in each of their losses.

Baltimore’s offense was particularly vibrant in Saturday’s 8-4 victory, with Jordan Westburg, Cedric Mullins, and Ryan O’Hearn each hitting home runs, contributing to the team’s series total of seven homers.

Westburg, who had been struggling with a 0-for-15 slump and seven strikeouts in his previous four games, broke through with three hits on Saturday. "I needed that one," Westburg reflected. "Been scuffling a little bit in my own mind… Not going to be too results-oriented, but it felt good to put together competitive at-bats."

O’Hearn has been a standout in this series, reaching base in six of his ten plate appearances, including five times on Saturday alone. Anthony Santander has also been instrumental, with four hits and six RBIs in the first two games.

Overall, the Orioles have compiled 23 hits and drawn 10 walks, putting them on the brink of their sixth series sweep of the season. With a record of 60-38, they currently boast the best in the American League and are just two wins behind the Philadelphia Phillies for the best record in baseball.
