After a season in which they were decimated by injuries while producing their first losing season since 2015, the Baltimore Ravens promised to make some adjustments to their practice and conditioning approaches as they need more healthy physiques to keep up with an ultra-competitive AFC North. Despite the injuries, the Ravens could have made the playoffs last season as they lost five of their last six games by a combined margin of 8 points.
That injury bug won’t be a factor for a second straight season which means that they should be much better this year as they always are. Quarterback Lamar Jackson didn’t have his best campaign but lacked many weapons yet he still managed to throw for 2,882 yards while rushing for 767 yards in just twelve games. The ground game should be paramount for the Ravens and it is expected to be built around Jackson, RBs J.K Robbins and Gus Edwards, both of whom missed the entire 2021 season.
All-Pro TE Mark Andrews will be the go-to-guy again and has been Jackson’s favorite target since they both joined the league in 2018. With WR Marquise Brown now in Arizona, former first-round pick Rashod Bateman should elevate his status as an elite pass catcher. The backfield wasn’t the only unit ravaged by injuries; the defense was also hit hard with numerous starters missing in action. Most are back and if the unit can stay healthy, the Ravens’ defense should return to their elite self.
The Ravens have a relatively easy schedule outside of their contests against the AFC North. Wins against the Jets, NY Giants, Saints, Panthers, Jaguars and Broncos should be secured.

The Ravens will most certainly prioritize the running game with the trio of Jackson, Robbins and Edwards which will open up things for Jackson to use Andrews when he needs to. Like most elite teams in the league, if the Ravens can avoid the injury bug, they will be a full-proof playoff presence. They will fall just short of supplanting the Bengals in the division but will be a wild card.
