Toronto Raptors Breakdown
The Toronto Raptors look like a team that has been through a blender. Five games in seven days has drained the life out of them and the results show it. Toronto has dropped four of its last five, including an ugly 111 to 86 loss to Charlotte that felt like watching a phone battery die in real time.
The once hot Raptors saw their nine game win streak vanish in an overtime loss to the same Hornets last week and their eight game home win streak went down the drain the moment the Lakers walked into the building. The schedule has not been kind and fatigue is written all over the roster.
Coach Darko Rajakovic admitted his team needs a mental reset. They must recharge quickly with Boston arriving for a rare afternoon matchup. The Raptors still play hard but tired legs have led to missed layups, flat jumpers and short second halves. Immanuel Quickley dropped a season high thirty one points on Friday, Scottie Barnes added thirteen, and then the entire supporting cast contributed about nine points and a half eaten granola bar.
Toronto also dealt with more injury issues. RJ Barrett remained out, Jamison Battle sprained his ankle, and Jakob Poeltl returned after rest but did not look fully sharp. The Raptors have the fight, but right now the bodies are worn down.
Raptors Player Prop Pick: Immanuel Quickley over 17.5 points – Toronto is running on fumes and Quickley is the only consistently aggressive scorer right now. Volume and minutes make this reachable.
Boston Celtics Breakdown
Boston arrives looking energized despite battling the same brutal schedule. They have won four straight and nine of their last eleven and appear to be having no trouble keeping their foot on the gas. Even without Jayson Tatum the Celtics are steamrolling teams like they are on a mission.
Jordan Walsh has suddenly become the surprise late season cheat code. He has hit eighteen of nineteen shots across his last three games which is the basketball version of hitting every green light on the highway. His performance against the Lakers included seventeen points, four triples, and a plus twenty eight rating. Jaylen Brown has also stepped up whenever needed and the Celtics are using their depth more efficiently than ever.
Boston handled Washington and Los Angeles with ease and looks sharper than they have all season. Their defensive rotations are crisp and their transition game has taken a leap. They now face Toronto for the first time this year after taking three of four from them last season.
Celtics Player Prop Pick: Jaylen Brown over 28.5 points – With Tatum out and Walsh playing well but not a high volume scorer Brown becomes the main bucket getter in a pace friendly matchup.
Prediction and Gambling Outlook
Boston is in a far better rhythm than Toronto and their depth advantage should be clear from the opening tip. The Raptors are tough at home but their legs are clearly shot and the missing bodies do not help. The spread at Boston minus three and a half feels light for the way the Celtics are playing. The total at two hundred twenty five is fair for two teams capable of scoring in transition but Toronto’s recent struggles push this toward a moderate pace.
