BYU Cougars Betting Breakdown

BYU enters the Big 12 quarterfinals playing some of its best basketball of the season. After a difficult stretch that saw the Cougars lose four of five games, the team has bounced back with three consecutive wins, including two strong performances in the conference tournament.

The offense has been powered by freshman sensation AJ Dybantsa, who has taken control of games throughout the tournament. Dybantsa is averaging 33.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 2.5 steals across the Cougars’ two tournament victories. His season scoring average sits at 25.2 points per game, which ranks first nationally.

BYU also showed defensive improvement in its recent win over West Virginia, holding the Mountaineers to only 48 points on 38.1 percent shooting while forcing 22 turnovers. That defensive effort could prove vital against Houston’s balanced offense.

The Cougars suffered a major setback when Richie Saunders, who averaged 18.0 points and 5.8 rebounds, was lost for the season with a torn ACL. Even so, the team has adapted by leaning more heavily on Dybantsa’s playmaking and aggressive scoring ability.

Player Prop Lean: AJ Dybantsa Over 25.5 Points – With his current scoring rhythm and massive usage rate, Dybantsa should again carry the offensive load for BYU.

Houston Cougars Betting Breakdown

Houston enters the postseason with renewed momentum after closing the regular season with three straight wins. Kelvin Sampson’s squad endured a rough patch against elite opponents but appears to have regained its defensive edge and offensive rhythm.

The Cougars rely on a trio of consistent scorers. Kingston Flemings leads the team with 16.5 points per game, while Emanuel Sharp contributes 15.8 and Milos Uzan adds 11.5. Together they account for more than half of Houston’s 77.6 points per game.

Freshman Chase McCarty delivered a breakout performance in Houston’s recent victory over Oklahoma State, scoring a career high 20 points while shooting 7 of 10 from the field and 6 of 9 from three point range. His development adds another scoring option for a team that already boasts strong depth.

Houston defeated BYU 77-66 earlier this season and will again look to impose its physical defensive style while controlling the pace of play.

Player Prop Lean: Kingston Flemings Over 17.5 Points – Flemings remains Houston’s most reliable scoring option and should see plenty of opportunities against BYU’s defense.

Expert Picks & Final Score Prediction

Houston’s defense and experience should ultimately guide them to another tournament victory, but BYU’s recent form and Dybantsa’s scoring surge make the underdog very dangerous.

Expect BYU to stay competitive and keep the margin inside the number, while Houston finds enough offense late to secure the win.

Final Score: Houston 75, BYU 69
Lean: BYU +9.5
