The Cincinnati Bengals came up excruciatingly short of their first Super Bowl title back in February in a loss to the Los Angeles Rams but will definitely feed off what was a magical run in order to eventually raise the Lombardi Trophy this upcoming campaign. No teams want to take a step back after a Super Bowl appearance and it sure seems that the Bengals, with their superstar quarterback Joe Burrow and offensive rookie of the year WR Ja’marr Chase, are poised for another run.
Burrow was lights out especially in his last five starts in which he completed 72.3 percent of his passes for an average of 355 yards per game with 12 scores to only two picks. While Burrow and the offense fired on all cylinders, keeping him upright was a major concern and the Bengals did address the issue with the signing of two proven linemen in G Alex Cappa and C Ted Karras while luring OT La’el Collins away from the Cowboys in March.
Burrow won’t be the only one benefiting from a much-improved O-line. RB Joe Mixon, who scampered for 1,205 yards last season despite the unit’s woes will certainly blossom even more with the revamped line. By retooling their offense in free agency, the Bengals were able to spend most of their draft wealth on defense. Indeed, four of their first five selections were defensive players.
The Bengals are scheduled to battle against vulnerable opponents in the Jets, Falcons, Panthers and the Saints but will have their hands full against the Chiefs, Buccaneers, Cowboys and the Bills.

The Bengals excelled offensively last season with a deficient offensive line so it is hard to believe that Burrow will regress this year with all the improvements. It can be argued that they are the best team in the AFC and they could be deadly with Burrow, Mixon and Chase gelling as a trio of formidable talents.
Last year’s record: 10-7
My Prediction: 13-4
