Dallas vs Vegas NHL Preview & Pick

Moneyline: Vegas -133
Spread: Vegas -1.5 (+190)
Total: 6.0

Vegas Golden Knights

Vegas is in one of those moods where everything feels slightly off but nobody is panicking yet. The Golden Knights return home after a road trip that ranged from acceptable to what just happened there. Losing four of five games will do that to a team, especially when one of those losses involved getting absolutely launched into the sun in Ottawa.

That seven one loss was the kind of game where you immediately delete the tape and pretend it never happened. Rasmus Anderson at least saved everyone from a shutout by scoring late, which is the hockey version of picking up your dignity off the floor before leaving the building.

Despite all that, Vegas is still sitting atop the Pacific Division with 63 points. That tells you how strong their body of work has been even while stumbling. The home record has been oddly average this season, but this team usually tightens up when it gets back to familiar ice.

One legitimate bright spot has been Pavel Dorofeyev, who scored both Vegas goals in the loss to Montreal and now has eight goals in his last nine games. He also sits second in the league with 13 power play goals, which is quietly elite. When he is feeling it, the Vegas offense looks a lot less stuck in neutral.

Dallas Stars

Dallas arrives in Vegas playing the role of calm adult in the room. The Stars are firmly in the playoff mix with 69 points and have been one of the better road teams in hockey. They just swept St Louis in a home and home series, although not without giving their coach a mild heart attack by nearly blowing a three goal lead.

Thomas Harley bailed everyone out with a late winner, while Matt Duchene finally had one of those games he has been threatening all season, scoring twice for his first multi goal effort. Roope Hintz also found the net, and the Stars left town with two points and a reminder that letting off the gas is how chaos happens.

Dallas plays structured hockey and travels well. They are comfortable grinding games down and forcing mistakes, which is not ideal news for a Vegas team trying to rediscover its rhythm.

Betting Outlook and Prediction

This sets up as a classic bounce back spot for Vegas. They are back home, embarrassed just enough to be focused, and facing a good team that might catch them at the wrong time. Dallas will not make it easy, but Vegas tends to respond well after ugly stretches.

The total sits at six, which feels fair. Expect a tighter game than recent Vegas results suggest, with both teams locking things down early before openings appear late.

If Vegas loses this one, expect a lot of very serious looks in the locker room. If they win, everyone pretends the road trip never happened. Hockey logic remains undefeated.

Score Prediction: Golden Knights 4, Stars 2
Pick: Vegas -1.5 (+190)
