Game Preview

Jared Goff could have easily been dubbed "Mr. Perfect" after his latest performance. The Detroit Lions quarterback completed all 18 of his passes against Seattle and even hauled in a touchdown pass from his go-to receiver, Amon-Ra St. Brown.

With a bye week following that game, Goff had extra time to reflect on his record-breaking showing in the Lions’ 42-29 victory over the Seahawks on September 30. However, Goff doesn’t consider it his best performance.

"I’ve had games where I’ve felt even better," Goff noted. "We just didn’t have any incompletions, which is rare. But I think we can be even sharper and continue to improve."

Up next for the Lions (3-1) is a trip to Arlington, Texas, to face the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday. Their last visit to AT&T Stadium, back in December 2023, ended in controversy when an apparent game-winning two-point conversion was overturned, handing Detroit a 20-19 loss. Goff, however, isn’t dwelling on that call but is more focused on breaking their two-game losing streak against Dallas.

The Cowboys (3-2), still seeking their first home win, have rebounded from back-to-back losses with narrow victories over the Giants and Steelers. Dallas coach Mike McCarthy knows containing Goff and Detroit’s balanced offense will be key.

"They’re in sync as an offense and playing with confidence," McCarthy said.

Meanwhile, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw for 352 yards against Pittsburgh, relying less on star receiver CeeDee Lamb. Jalen Tolbert stepped up with 87 yards and the game-winning touchdown. Rico Dowdle contributed 87 rushing yards, helping Dallas achieve much-needed balance.

The Lions head into the matchup healthy, with center Frank Ragnow returning to full participation. The Cowboys, however, will be missing key defenders, including Micah Parsons and Eric Kendricks, while cornerback DaRon Bland is questionable.

Dallas will need a full team effort to overcome Detroit’s high-flying offense and secure their first win at home this season.
