Game Preview

Cornerback Amik Robertson joined the Detroit Lions in the offseason expecting an electrifying ride. Now, as the Lions continue to soar, they’re set for a key matchup against NFC North rivals, the Green Bay Packers, and Robertson is eager to keep the momentum rolling.

“I’ve never been part of something quite like this,” Robertson said. “But we know how the league works. When you’re winning, everyone loves you. Lose a few, and it’s a different story. We just have to keep our eyes on the prize and stay focused.”

With Detroit (6-1) and Green Bay (6-2) boasting five and four-game winning streaks respectively, both teams have been hot. Bettors will be watching closely as multiple media outlets reported that Packers quarterback Jordan Love is expected to play despite being listed as questionable with a groin injury.

Even if Love takes the field, Green Bay will face a red-hot Detroit offense that has averaged over 40 points per game in their last four outings. Green Bay, on the other hand, has consistently put up at least 24 points in their last four games, with two in the 30s. Love, however, believes they still have room to improve. “We haven’t played our best game yet,” Love noted, hinting that the Packers’ offense still has untapped potential.

Under head coach Dan Campbell, the Lions have flipped the script on their struggles against the Packers, boasting a 4-2 record. Detroit is riding high after a dominating 52-14 win over the Tennessee Titans, powered by contributions from all three phases of the game—offense, defense, and special teams. Jared Goff threw for three touchdowns, Jahmyr Gibbs rushed for 127 yards, and Kalif Raymond returned a punt 90 yards for a score, making him the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week. This complete performance gives Detroit plenty of reasons for bettors to back them.

Green Bay has also shown they can deliver in crunch time, particularly against AFC South opponents. New kicker Brandon McManus has hit game-winning field goals as time expired in each of the last two games, which might appeal to those wagering on close contests or game-ending scores.

Despite sustaining a groin injury early against Jacksonville, Love stayed in until the third quarter before backup Malik Willis took over, guiding Green Bay to a 30-27 win. Willis, who has already started twice this season with Love sidelined, gives the Packers a capable option, potentially affecting bets on Green Bay’s quarterback situation.

The Packers’ injury report also includes safety Evan Williams (out with a hamstring) and offensive lineman Josh Myers (doubtful with a wrist injury). Running back Josh Jacobs and cornerbacks Jaire Alexander and Corey Ballentine are all listed as questionable, potentially impacting props and defensive expectations for the game.

For the Lions, Goff, who rolled his ankle last week, was a full participant in practice by Thursday, suggesting he’s good to go. However, Detroit will miss defensive end Joshua Paschal, defensive tackle Brodric Martin, and linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez, while a few others are considered doubtful—an important factor for those considering bets on Detroit’s defense.

Packers rookie linebacker Edgerrin Cooper earned NFC Defensive Player of the Week honors after a standout game against Jacksonville, with eight tackles, a strip sack, and a pass breakup—performance stats that could entice prop bet players.

Last season, both teams took road wins in their head-to-head matchups, and Detroit is eyeing a third straight victory at Lambeau Field. While the Packers have historically dominated at home, winning 24 of the past 29 meetings, the Lions are now poised to flip the script, giving gamblers plenty to think about when sizing up this game.
