New Jersey Devils Betting Preview

New Jersey returns home looking to reset after a rough road swing that ended with three straight losses. Their home form has been elite, joining Colorado as the only teams without a regulation defeat at their own rink this season. That contrast has been stark, as the Devils were outscored 12 to 4 during their recent 0-3 slide away from Newark.

The defensive lapses have been glaring, especially in Saturday’s loss where Philadelphia scored three times in under 30 seconds and rattled off five unanswered goals. Captain Nico Hischier was clear about the problem, calling out the team’s lack of compete level. New Jersey’s netminding is also under the spotlight after Jake Allen surrendered six goals in his worst outing of the season. Whether he starts again or the struggling Jacob Markstrom gets the nod, stability in goal is a must.

Offensively, the Devils have gone cold on the power play, converting only three of their last 24 chances. Jesper Bratt continues to lead the team in scoring, but the group overall has lacked sharpness in key moments. Returning to a home environment where they have thrived could be exactly what they need.

Detroit Red Wings Betting Preview

Detroit arrives playing with confidence, picking up points in five of its last six games. Their only regulation stumble in that span was a flat shutout loss to the Islanders, but they responded with an impressive comeback win over Columbus. Down 3 to 1 in the third, the Red Wings surged back and finished the job in overtime, a sign of a team that does not fold under pressure.

Alex DeBrincat continues to lead the surge, scoring in six straight games and combining with Dylan Larkin to form a productive offensive core. Detroit has also been resilient when falling behind, posting a 6-6 record when giving up the first goal, something most teams cannot manage.

The rise of Cam Talbot has also been a major factor. His 9-2 record and steady play have pushed him into the clear lead role in Detroit’s crease, as he has significantly outperformed John Gibson. With Talbot in form and the offense finding timely goals, Detroit has been able to stay in games even when the structure wavers.

NHL Betting Edge & Prediction

New Jersey is strong at home, but their recent defensive breakdowns and struggling special teams raise real concerns. Detroit is playing with far more momentum and has the hotter goaltender, plus an offense that has shown the ability to strike quickly when needed.

This should be competitive, but the value leans toward the more consistent side entering the matchup.

Score Prediction: Red Wings 4, Devils 3
Pick: Detroit (+117)
Total: Over 6.0 (+100)
