Houston vs Phoenix Preview & Prediction

Spread: Houston -6.5

Phoenix Suns Betting Breakdown

Phoenix enters this matchup feeling like they lost the main attraction before the show even started. Kevin Durant’s long awaited return to the Valley will have to wait after he was ruled out for personal reasons. That takes the drama down a notch, but the Suns are still trying to keep momentum alive after winning ten of their last twelve.

Dillon Brooks, one of the centerpieces of the Durant trade, looks like he has been preparing for this game since the summer. He lit up San Antonio with twenty five points and helped Phoenix knock down fourteen threes. When Brooks is locked in, he plays like he has something to prove to anyone who has ever doubted him, disliked him, or made eye contact with him.

Jordan Goodwin brought needed spark with a double double in his first start, and Phoenix continues to patch things together while dealing with injuries. Mark Williams produced another strong effort inside, but the Suns are not expecting him to go in back to back games, which leaves the paint thinner against a taller, physical Rockets squad.

Phoenix has been winning with pace, ball pressure and hot shooting, but without Durant or Williams the margin shrinks. They will need their perimeter players to carry even more weight than usual.

Suns Player Prop Pick: Dillon Brooks Over 19.5 Points – He has been aggressive, confident and clearly circling this game.

Houston Rockets Betting Breakdown

Houston comes in frustrated after their five game winning streak was snapped by Denver, but overall this team has been one of the league’s most surprising early season stories. Even without Fred VanVleet, they have held strong behind a physical frontcourt and improved ball movement.

Durant has been a steady twenty four plus per night scorer in Houston’s system, and playing in Phoenix was supposed to be the dramatic spark until he became unavailable. That shifts the focus to Alperen Sengun, who had a rough outing against Nikola Jokic but has otherwise been one of the most effective bigs in the West. He bristled at the Baby Jokic nickname, and he looks eager to reestablish himself after posting season lows in points and rebounds.

The backcourt continues to evolve. Amen Thompson has stepped into more creation responsibility while Josh Okogie has been filling minutes as a defensive guard. The surprise spark is rookie Reed Sheppard, who erupted for twenty seven points last game while shooting the lights out. His fearlessness gives Houston instant offense off the bench.

The Rockets have been dominating the glass all year, leading the league in total and offensive rebounds. That advantage becomes even bigger against a Phoenix team missing its primary interior presence.

Rockets Player Prop Pick: Alperen Sengun Over 9.5 Rebounds – Houston has a major rebounding edge in this matchup.

NBA Final Score & Expert Prediction

This matchup loses some juice without Durant, but Houston brings more stability, more size and more rebounding power. Phoenix can stay competitive with shooting bursts, but Houston’s physical advantage should show over four quarters.

Final Score:  Rockets 115, Suns 107
Lean:  Houston -6.5
