Game Preview

The Indiana Fever, vying for playoff positioning, head to College Park, Ga., to clash with the Atlanta Dream on Monday.

As of Monday, the Fever (13-16) hold a two-game advantage over the Chicago Sky for the seventh seed, while the Dream (10-18) are just half a game behind Chicago for the final playoff spot.

Indiana returned from a month-long Olympic hiatus to win two of their last three games, although they suffered a 90-80 defeat to the Minnesota Lynx on Saturday.

Despite a 13-point deficit after the first quarter, Indiana narrowed the gap to one by halftime. However, despite 23 points from Caitlin Clark and 21 from Kelsey Mitchell, they couldn’t overcome Napheesa Collier’s game-high 31 points for Minnesota.

Clark expressed a desire for better offensive execution, noting Minnesota’s strong defense. "We were a bit static and could have pushed the pace more, yet there are valuable takeaways from this game," she said.

Clark leads the Fever with an average of 17.9 points per game, placing her 10th in the league and first in assists with 8.3 per game. Mitchell closely follows with 17.8 points per game. One of them has led Indiana in scoring in eight of the last nine games.

On the brink of playoff elimination, Atlanta is making a final push as the regular season nears its end.

The Dream snapped an eight-game losing streak after the Olympic break, recording victories against Seattle, Connecticut, and Phoenix. They nearly extended their winning streak before falling 82-80 to Phoenix on Friday.

Atlanta’s coach, Tanisha Wright, praised her team’s determination. "Despite early foul troubles, the team displayed great resilience to fight back and compete fiercely. I’m proud of their effort," she remarked.

Rhyne Howard is Atlanta’s top scorer averaging 16.3 points per game, with Allisha Gray contributing 15.9 points per game.
