Game Preview
The Las Vegas Aces will look to bounce back from one of their worst offensive showings of the season when they face the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday evening.
In their last game, the Aces, who had scored 28 points in the first quarter, managed just eight, 15, and 16 points in the following periods, leading to a 79-67 loss to the New York Liberty. This defeat marked their second consecutive home loss, having also fallen 93-85 to the Chicago Sky before the Olympic break.
Despite a strong individual performance from A’ja Wilson, who scored 24 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, the Aces struggled as a team, with no other player scoring more than 13 points. Wilson acknowledged that the team’s effort was lacking, saying, "Our want-to factor wasn’t there for 40 minutes. We looked the same way against Chicago before the break. Our team is too good for us to not want to be the best."
Las Vegas will seek to regain their form against the Sparks (6-20), who are on a three-game losing streak. The Sparks fell 90-86 to the Sky on Saturday after holding a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter, and they were also defeated 103-68 by the New York Liberty earlier in the week.
Sparks coach Curt Miller expressed disappointment over the recent results but praised the team’s response to their earlier struggles. Miller highlighted issues with physicality and rebounding, particularly impacting leading scorer Dearica Hamby, who managed just seven points against the Sky.
