Even in defeat, they’ve got a shiny ace on the mound in Jesús Luzardo (5-0, 2.15 ERA), who’s been exactly what Philly fans hoped for since arriving from Miami. Luzardo has been money going at least five innings every outing and never surrendering more than three earned runs.
His last start wasn’t his best, three earned in seven innings against Oakland but he still fanned 10 and showed no signs of slowing down. Historically, Luzardo hasn’t dominated Milwaukee (1-1, 4.00 ERA in 3 starts), and this Brewers lineup is heating up. Still, behind one of the strongest rotations in the league, Philly has the upper hand.

Winners of five straight, Milwaukee is suddenly a team no one wants to face. Christian Yelich has turned into a flamethrower at the plate, he’s smashed five homers and racked up 12 RBIs in his last seven games. Even against lefties, where he had been ice-cold, Yelich came through with two bombs in Friday’s opener.
On the mound, rookie Chad Patrick (2-4, 2.97 ERA) gets the nod. He’s not going to pitch deep Milwaukee’s strategy is to limit his innings, but he’s been effective early in games. He shut out the Red Sox through 4.2 innings in his last start and is building trust within the rotation.
