Chicago Blackhawks: Power Play Swagger and Bedard’s Baby Face Fire
Chicago’s finally back home after a road trip that felt longer than the Star Wars franchise. The Blackhawks return to the United Center riding a three-game heater and get this, a functioning power play. Yes, Chicago’s special teams are no longer a disaster movie. They went 5-for-7 on the man advantage and killed all 10 penalties in their last three games. If that doesn’t make fans faint from joy, Connor Bedard’s goal streak might.
The 18-year-old phenom has goals in three straight and a point in eight consecutive games, putting up 18 points over that stretch. Tyler Bertuzzi has also joined the fun, turning into a mustachioed scoring machine with six goals in three games. Coach Jeff Blashill credits old-fashioned grit and caffeine: “We make mistakes, but at least we make them at full speed.”
Chicago’s defense is still a little like Swiss cheese, full of holes but surprisingly delicious when it works. If their penalty kill keeps humming, they might make this one interesting against the big bad Devils.
New Jersey Devils: Banged Up but Still Dangerous
The Devils limp into Chicago like a rock band after a world tour, talented, bruised, and still somehow putting on a show. They’re 3-3-1 since snapping an eight-game winning streak and just dropped their first home loss of the season in overtime to the Islanders.
Defenseman Simon Nemec has been a bright spot amid the chaos, stepping up with clutch plays and a goal with just seconds left to force OT last game. Coach Sheldon Keefe praised him, saying, “He’s rising to the occasion, mostly because we’ve run out of other bodies.”
Jesper Bratt continues to pile up multi-point games, while Luke Hughes leads the team in dual scoring and baby-faced confidence. Still, New Jersey’s injuries have them patching the lineup together like a late-night IKEA build.
NHL Betting Edge & Prediction
Chicago’s momentum and home-crowd boost will keep this one spicy, but New Jersey’s depth and top-end talent should prevail late. Expect a high-energy tilt with plenty of goals and a little chaos for dessert.
