Game Preview
Breanna Stewart and the New York Liberty know what’s at stake: they are just one win away from their first-ever WNBA title. They aim to clinch it Friday night in Game 4 of the WNBA Finals against the Minnesota Lynx.
"We’re one win away, and that’s the biggest motivation," Stewart said. "We want to finish this on Friday, knowing Minny will give everything, but we want this badly."
The Liberty lead the best-of-five series 2-1 after a thrilling 80-77 Game 3 win on Wednesday, sealed by Sabrina Ionescu’s logo-range 3-pointer in the final second. Ionescu, who received over 200 congratulatory messages afterward, is focused on closing out the series.
"I’ve watched the clip a few times," Ionescu said. "But the job’s not done, we’ve got one more game to win."
The Lynx, however, are determined to push the series to a decisive Game 5. Napheesa Collier believes Minnesota had a real shot in Game 3 but missed key opportunities down the stretch.
"We played well enough to win, but we didn’t execute late," Collier said. "We’re coming into Game 4 with an aggressive mindset—this is a must-win for us."
Teammate Courtney Williams echoed the sentiment, saying both teams will go on runs, but the Lynx are ready for the challenge. Minnesota aims to spoil the Liberty’s celebration and force a final game back in New York.
