Game Preview
The Phoenix Suns’ early-season momentum hit a roadblock when Kevin Durant suffered a left calf strain on Nov. 8.
Before the injury, the Suns were 8-1 with Durant in the lineup. However, they’ve now dropped five of their last six games, including a 109-99 loss to the Orlando Magic on Monday, marking their fourth consecutive defeat. The Suns face the New York Knicks at home Wednesday night, aiming to snap this losing streak.
Injuries have plagued Phoenix, with Bradley Beal (left calf) out for the fifth straight game and Jusuf Nurkic (left ankle) questionable after missing three consecutive games. Despite these setbacks, point guard Tyus Jones remains optimistic.
"These stretches happen during the season," Jones said. "We’ve got to stay together, keep grinding, and not let this impact our spirit. It’ll make us stronger in the long run."
Coach Mike Budenholzer also praised the team’s resilience and unity. "This group has a good spirit. Through highs and lows, they’ll keep working and staying positive," he said.
Devin Booker has tried to carry the load, scoring 44 points against the Timberwolves on Sunday. However, he’s struggled in other recent games, averaging just 15.7 points on 32.5% shooting over the past four contests.
Meanwhile, the New York Knicks enter the matchup riding a three-game win streak and brimming with confidence. They recently dominated the Washington Wizards 134-106, showcasing their depth and ball movement with 37 assists and just eight turnovers.
Jalen Brunson led the way with 26 points and 11 assists, while Karl-Anthony Towns added 24 points and 12 rebounds. Towns has been a consistent force for the Knicks, recording four consecutive double-doubles and 11 in his last 12 games.
