Oklahoma City Thunder Betting Preview
Oklahoma City enters as a 7 point favorite with the total set at 223, but this version of the Thunder is missing its engine. Shai Gilgeous Alexander remains sidelined with an abdominal injury and will stay out through the All Star break. Without him, the offense has looked different and at times careless.
The Thunder have dropped back to back games to San Antonio and Houston. In the 112-106 loss against the Rockets, Oklahoma City committed 17 turnovers that led to 27 Houston points. Cason Wallace stepped up with 23 points and Isaiah Joe added 21 off the bench, but the late game flow was not the same without their All Star guard. Jalen Williams and Ajay Mitchell are also unavailable, which thins the backcourt even more.
Jared McCain made his team debut and logged 14 minutes, but chemistry takes time. Oklahoma City already handled the Lakers earlier this season 121-92, yet that was with Shai running the show.
Player prop pick: Cason Wallace over 9.5 points
With Gilgeous Alexander out, Wallace should continue seeing elevated usage and shot volume.
Los Angeles Lakers Betting Preview
Los Angeles comes in as a home underdog, but momentum is building. The Lakers just picked up a 105-99 win over Golden State, powered by a strong third quarter and timely shot making. LeBron James finished with 20 points and 10 assists, while Rui Hachimura added 18 and Austin Reaves chipped in 16 with eight assists.
Luka Doncic remains out with a hamstring injury, but the Lakers are finding ways to manufacture offense. They shot 50.7 percent from the field in their last outing despite committing 23 turnovers. Luke Kennard added 10 points in his debut and brings valuable spacing to the lineup.
Against a Thunder squad missing its top scorer, Los Angeles should be able to keep this competitive, especially at home.
Player prop pick: LeBron James over 20.5 points
With Doncic sidelined, expect James to shoulder more of the scoring load in a marquee matchup.
NBA Final Score & Expert Prediction
Oklahoma City has depth and defensive structure, but without Shai Gilgeous Alexander, covering a full 7 points on the road is a big ask. The Lakers have enough veteran presence to stay within striking distance for four quarters.
Final Score: Thunder 114, Lakers 110
Lean: LA Lakers +7.0
Total: Over 223.0
