Philadelphia vs New Jersey NHL Preview & Pick

Moneyline: New Jersey -140
Spread: New Jersey -1.5 (+180)
Total: 5.5

New Jersey Devils Betting Preview

New Jersey comes into this matchup playing some of their sharpest hockey of the season. The Devils just blanked the Sabres 5 to 0, their third straight victory, and they did it with authority. Jake Allen was a brick wall in net, stopping 42 shots and cleansing the memory of last week’s loss to Philadelphia. He admitted he wanted to bounce back badly, and he did exactly that.

The Devils also received scoring from everywhere on the ice. Arseny Gritsyuk popped in two, Brenden Dillon and Paul Cotter both delivered multi point performances, and Nico Hischier continued his heater with a point streak now at four games. The offensive depth appears to be returning at the right time, and when this team spreads the scoring around, they become far more difficult to slow down.

Coach Sheldon Keefe praised the team’s ability to force Buffalo into long transitions instead of gifting easy entries. New Jersey controlled pace, managed puck battles, and relied on Allen to clean up whenever things slipped. At home, where the Devils have been more consistent, the -140 price reflects the expectation that they can dictate tempo again.

Philadelphia Flyers Betting Preview

Philadelphia arrives on its own hot streak, winning four of its last five and showing a mix of resilience and chaos that has become their brand this season. The Flyers needed extra work Friday night, blowing a 3 to 0 lead against the Islanders before rallying to win in a shootout. It was not pretty, but it was gritty enough to impress coach Rick Tocchet.

Tyson Foerster and Sean Couturier scored 22 seconds apart early to give Philadelphia control, and Trevor Zegras added to the burst. Foerster in particular has been red hot with five goals in five games. Goaltender Samuel Ersson kept the Flyers steady through the collapse, making key stops late and standing tall in the shootout.

One major moment came late in the third when the Flyers had to kill four straight minutes of penalties. Surviving that stretch showed the defensive buy in this group has rediscovered. Even when things get messy, they do not collapse completely.

Philadelphia beat New Jersey 6 to 3 last week, so confidence will not be an issue. The challenge is now repeating it on the road against a Devils team that looks significantly sharper than in that first meeting.

NHL Betting Edge & Prediction

Both teams enter with momentum, but New Jersey has the cleaner form, steadier defense, and home ice advantage. The Flyers fight hard, but the Devils carry more stability in this spot.
