Seattle vs Washington Preview & Prediction

Spread: Seattle -3.0
Moneyline: Seattle (-160)
Total: 48.0

Washington Commanders: Running on Empty

At this point, the Washington Commanders’ season feels like a car running on fumes, praying for a gas station that doesn’t exist. They’ve lost three straight, and things are heating up faster than a microwave Hot Pocket. Sitting at 3-5, they now have to face Seattle before running headfirst into Detroit’s buzzsaw offense next week. Rough stretch? More like a stretch of nightmares.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels is back from a hamstring injury, which is good news because the Commanders without him looked like a car with three tires. The bad news? Star receiver Terry McLaurin is sidelined again with a quad injury. That leaves Daniels throwing to a mix of backup wideouts and whoever’s free after practice.

Washington’s running game, led by rookie Bill Croskey-Merritt, hasn’t done much to ease the pressure. After being bottled up for just 25 yards against Kansas City, Croskey-Merritt now faces a Seattle defense that allows fewer rushing yards per game than most people gain walking to the fridge.

Head coach Dan Quinn insists his team is ready to “dig in” and play physical, but unless they find a way to teleport into the red zone, the Commanders may be digging their own grave instead.

Seattle Seahawks: Polishing the Playoff Resume

Seattle is coming off a bye week, which is bad news for Washington because the Seahawks are rested, focused, and probably tired of watching film of bad teams losing. Sitting at 5-2, the Seahawks are in prime position to take another step toward the postseason.

Sam Darnold has been sharp, composed, and protected by an offensive line that’s gone from “traffic cone status” last year to “pretty solid” this season. Only nine sacks allowed in seven games? That’s practically luxury living compared to last season’s 50.

Then there’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who’s been treating opposing secondaries like they owe him money. He leads the NFL with 819 receiving yards and is on pace to break records or at least make defenses cry into their playbooks.

Defensively, the Seahawks are a throwback to the “Legion of Boom” mindset, just without the catchy nickname (yet). They’ve allowed more than 20 points only once since Week 1 and have a run defense that’s turning ball carriers into sad memes.

If the Seahawks keep their focus and avoid playing down to the competition, this could turn into one of those games where Darnold spends the fourth quarter checking his fantasy stats on the sideline.

Prediction: Battle of Momentum vs Mayhem

Washington desperately needs a win, but this is like trying to out-swim a shark when you’re holding a steak sandwich. Seattle’s defense is too disciplined, their offense too balanced, and their quarterback too composed for a Commanders team still trying to figure out which button turns the engine back on.

Expect Seattle to take control early and never really let Washington breathe. Jayden Daniels might make a few highlight scrambles, but the Seahawks’ secondary and pass rush will do the heavy lifting to close things out.

Seattle covers at -3.0. The total of 48.0 feels reachable, but only if Washington scores late when it doesn’t matter.

Final Score:  Seahawks 30, Commanders 20
Lean:  Seattle -3.0
Total:
Over 48.0
