St. Louis Blues vs. Dallas Stars: Betting Preview and Predictions

St. Louis Blues

The Blues have been surging at the right time, putting themselves back in the Western Conference playoff race. They enter Sunday’s matchup against the Stars riding a four-game winning streak, including a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday. St. Louis has secured points in eight of its last nine games (6-1-2) and is now just a point away from the second wild-card spot.

Robert Thomas continues to be a catalyst for the Blues’ offense, extending his point streak to nine games with four goals and nine assists during that span. Pavel Buchnevich has also stepped up, contributing two goals and seven assists over his last six games.

The Blues’ success has been fueled by their commitment to selfless, team-oriented hockey. Head coach Jim Montgomery praised their discipline, noting the team’s defensive sacrifices and smart play as key to their recent form.

With Jordan Binnington getting the start on Saturday, Joel Hofer is expected to be between the pipes for Sunday’s crucial road game.

Dallas Stars

The Stars opened their four-game homestand with a dominant 6-2 victory over the Kings, marking their fourth win in five games. Dallas has been clicking offensively, led by Jason Robertson, who has six goals and three assists in his last five games, and Roope Hintz, who has a goal and six assists over his last three outings.

A major storyline for Dallas has been the breakout performance of rookie forward Logan Stankoven. After managing just one goal in his previous 14 games, Stankoven found the net twice against Los Angeles. His relentless work ethic is paying off, and the Stars hope he can continue his momentum against the Blues.

“He’s had so many good looks,” Hintz said. “Sometimes the puck just doesn’t go in, but he kept at it, and it was great to see him get rewarded.”

Head coach Peter DeBoer echoed those sentiments, emphasizing that every player goes through dry spells and that Stankoven’s perseverance is starting to yield results.

The Stars have dominated the season series against St. Louis, winning both prior meetings. They earned a 2-1 overtime victory on Dec. 14 and followed that up with a 2-0 shutout on Jan. 25.

Betting Outlook

Moneyline: Dallas -225

Total: Under 6.0 (-115)

The Blues have been hot, but playing the second leg of a back-to-back on the road against a well-rested Dallas team presents a tough challenge. The Stars have been dominant at home and have already beaten St. Louis twice this season. With a more potent offense and solid goaltending, expect Dallas to control the game.

Prediction: Dallas wins, but the Blues keep it close. Under 6.0 goals is the lean as both teams focus on defensive play in a crucial late-season matchup.
