Game Preview

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Freddy Peralta, coming off a strong August, aims to maintain his form as he starts against the St. Louis Cardinals in Monday’s first game of a three-game set.

Peralta (9-7, 3.70 ERA) recorded a 3-1 record with a 2.89 ERA in August, impressing Brewers manager Pat Murphy with his development and renewed confidence, particularly in his fastball.

"He’s very motivated," Murphy noted. "He’s maturing into the ace we believed he could be, learning from past mistakes and regaining his trust in his fastball."

Peralta’s recent performances include scoreless outings against the Cardinals on August 22 and the San Francisco Giants last Wednesday. Reflecting on his season, Peralta acknowledged the challenges but remained optimistic about regaining his form.

"My confidence never really wavered," Peralta explained. "I’ve always believed things would click back into place, and lately, they have."

Historically, Peralta has faced the Cardinals 18 times, starting 14 games with a 3-6 record and a 4.90 ERA. His past encounters this season include a six-inning shutout in a narrow Brewers’ win in April and a three-run, six-inning effort in a May victory.

Nolan Arenado of the Cardinals has been particularly successful against Peralta, batting .303 with four homers and 10 RBIs off him.

The Brewers (80-57), despite a recent loss to the Cincinnati Reds, lead the National League Central by nine games over the Chicago Cubs.

On the other hand, the Cardinals (69-68) are entering the series energized from a 14-7 victory over the New York Yankees.

St. Louis is set to start right-hander Andre Pallante, who has been effective lately with a 2.13 ERA over his last four starts.

Pallante commented on his recent outing against the Padres, "I focused on making good pitches. They weren’t perfect, but they were effective."

Pallante, primarily used in relief against the Brewers with a 4.08 ERA across 12 appearances, will look to continue his solid performance in a starting role.
