(4) UConn vs Marquette Preview & Prediction

Spread: UConn -9.5
Moneyline: UConn (-525)
Total: 143.5

Breaking down a Big East matchup with clear betting implications as UConn heads to Milwaukee to face Marquette in the regular season finale. The Huskies enter as 9.5 point favorites with the total set at 143.5. With conference positioning and NCAA Tournament seeding on the line, this game offers a compelling betting angle.

UConn Huskies Betting Preview

UConn arrives in Milwaukee with momentum and plenty at stake. The Huskies sit at 27-3 overall and 17-2 in Big East play, tied atop the conference standings and still chasing a possible No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. A victory here guarantees at least a share of the Big East regular season title.

The Huskies had a week to recharge after their 71-67 win over Seton Hall. In that game, UConn showed the composure of a championship caliber team by overcoming an eight point deficit in the second half.

Alex Karaban delivered one of his best performances of the season with 23 points while knocking down five shots from beyond the arc. Tarris Reed Jr. controlled the paint with 10 points and 11 rebounds, providing the interior presence that makes UConn so difficult to handle.

What makes UConn particularly dangerous from a betting perspective is their balance. Five players average double figures in scoring. Solo Ball leads the way with 14.1 points per game, followed closely by Reed at 13.7 and Karaban at 13.3. Braylon Mullins contributes 12.1 points while Silas Demary Jr. chips in 10.9.

The Huskies average nearly 79 points per game while allowing just over 65, which reflects both efficient offense and disciplined defense. They also move the ball exceptionally well, ranking among the top teams nationally in assists.

Marquette Golden Eagles Betting Preview

Marquette enters the finale with a very different profile. The Golden Eagles sit at 11-19 overall and 6-13 in conference play, but they recently picked up a convincing 78-56 win at Providence.

The victory was fueled by their young backcourt duo of Adrien Stevens and Nigel James Jr. Stevens erupted for a season high 21 points while James added 20 points and seven rebounds. James has been especially productive this season, reaching the 20 point mark ten times and leading the team with 16.3 points per game.

Chase Ross contributes 14.2 points per contest while Royce Parham adds 12.1. Ben Gold leads the team in rebounding at 5.7 boards per game.

The Golden Eagles have been far more competitive on their home floor. Nine of their eleven victories have come in Milwaukee, which adds an interesting wrinkle for bettors considering the spread.

However, rebounding remains a concern. Marquette is getting outrebounded by more than four boards per game, which is not ideal when facing a physical UConn frontcourt.

Prediction and Betting Outlook

UConn already handled Marquette earlier this season with a 73-57 victory, controlling the boards and dictating the tempo.

Given their balanced offense, defensive consistency and strong rebounding advantage, the Huskies appear well positioned to close the regular season with authority.

Marquette’s home court edge could keep things competitive early, but over the course of forty minutes the Huskies should create separation.

Final Score: UConn 79, Marquette 66
Lean: UConn -9.5

Over 143.5
