Game Preview
The Los Angeles Angels will play host to the Oakland Athletics on Thursday night in Anaheim, where both teams, already out of playoff contention, are looking to evaluate talent for the future.
Jo Adell, likely starting in right field for the Angels, is one such player under the microscope. Despite a challenging start to his career, Adell, the Angels’ first-round pick in 2017, has shown potential improvement this season. Angels manager Ron Washington expressed optimism about Adell’s development. "He’s improving every day," Washington noted. "He’s getting chances in those high-pressure situations and is learning to manage them better. He’s growing."
On the mound, the Angels will start left-hander Kenny Rosenberg (0-0, 6.30 ERA), making his season debut as a starter after two relief appearances. He has a 3.74 ERA in 14 starts at Triple-A Salt Lake this year and has allowed just one run in nine innings over two relief outings against Oakland.
