Diamondbacks vs. Dodgers – Game Preview, Prediction and Player Props
Moneyline Favorite: Dodgers -230 | Total: 9.5
Arizona Diamondbacks Outlook
Arizona continues to thrive under pressure especially when facing their NL West nemesis. After jumping out to an early seven-run lead Monday night and finishing with a 9-5 win at Dodger Stadium, the D-backs have now taken three of five from L.A. this season. Even more impressive? Arizona has won five of its last six games in L.A., outscoring the Dodgers 48-21 in that span.
Gabriel Moreno remains a Dodgers-killer. He crushed a third-inning home run Monday and has now hit safely in 10 of his last 12 matchups against them, with four homers in 21 career games vs. L.A.
Ryne Nelson (1-1, 5.13 ERA) gets the ball Tuesday. This is just his second start of the season, but he’s held his own against the Dodgers previously, posting a 2.25 ERA in two career outings.
Los Angeles Dodgers Outlook
Los Angeles is reeling with four straight losses, and their pitching staff has been leaking runs 32 allowed over that stretch. Even with Mookie Betts launching two homers Monday (including a back-to-back shot with Shohei Ohtani), the offense hasn’t been able to cover the defensive breakdowns.
Yoshinobu Yamamoto (5-3, 2.12 ERA) is back on the mound Tuesday and looking to bounce back from his worst outing of the season—an uncharacteristic five-run performance against these very Diamondbacks on May 8. Still, Yamamoto has been lights out overall and boasts a 1.46 ERA in two previous starts vs. Arizona last season.
Injury reinforcements are arriving slowly, with Teoscar Hernández returning to the lineup Monday. However, the Dodgers still need consistency from their rotation and bullpen, which has been forced into extended innings due to shaky starts.
Top Player Props Picks
Gabriel Moreno (ARI) Over 1.5 Total Hits, Runs and RBI’s: Moreno is scorching hot vs. L.A., and he sees Yamamoto well.
Mookie Betts (LAD) Over 1.5 total bases: With two dingers Monday, Betts is heating up and should stay aggressive at the plate.
Expert Prediction and Final Score:
The Dodgers are overdue for a bounce-back, and Yamamoto gives them the best shot. But Arizona’s confidence at Dodger Stadium can’t be ignored.
Final Score: Dodgers 6, Diamondbacks 4
