Diamondbacks vs. Cardinals: Desert Drought Meets Midwest Mojo

Welcome to Busch Light Drama, Volume 3

It’s Sunday in St. Louis, and the Diamondbacks are in town trying to remember what winning feels like. After four straight losses, Arizona fans are starting to wonder if the team’s bats were left behind on the team bus or maybe traded to the Savannah Bananas by accident. The Cardinals? They’re polishing up their rally squirrel shrine and winning 18 of 26 at home. Busch Stadium has become less a ballpark and more a therapy session for Cardinals hitters.

St. Louis Cardinals: Cooking With "Herrera"-sment

The Cards are swinging like it’s 2004 again hitting .261 as a team, which is basically elite in today’s low-batting-average MLB climate. Ivan Herrera is playing like he’s allergic to outs, going 15-for-35 in his last 10 games. Lars Nootbaar continues to sound like a limited-edition energy drink and hit like one too packing seven homers and enough doubles to sponsor a Little League team.

Add in Sonny Gray (5-1, 4.02 ERA), who’s been more hot-and-cold than your ex’s texting habits, and the Cardinals still feel like the safer pick. Especially at home, where they’ve been tighter than TSA security.

Prediction: St. Louis takes this one late, with a 5-3 win thanks to a clutch hit from someone you’ve never heard of.

Arizona Diamondbacks: Who Hit the "Slump" Button?

Brandon Pfaadt (pronounced “FAHT” if you’re feeling bold) has decent numbers, but he’s not exactly instilling fear in the hearts of batters or even squirrels. Still, he’s 7-3 and pitching like a guy who wants to be in the All-Star Game and not the Triple-A All-Star Game.

Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte are trying their best to hold things together like duct tape on a leaky canoe. Marte has five homers in his last 10 games, but Arizona’s pitching has an ERA of 5.43 over that stretch basically an open invitation to run up the score.

Gambling Outlook & Score Prediction:

The Cards stay hot at home, Arizona’s slump continues, and the rally squirrel lives to see another win.

Final Score Prediction: Cardinals 5, Diamondbacks 3
Bets Bet: St. Louis ML (-125)
