WNBA Preview and Prediction: Chicago Sky vs. Dallas Wings

Spread: Dallas -2.0 | Total: 171.5

Chicago Sky: Looking to Keep Momentum Without Bueckers

The Sky (1-4) finally snapped their early-season slump with a clutch 97-92 victory over Dallas on Thursday, but they’ll have to play the rematch without rookie sensation Paige Bueckers, who’s now in concussion protocol. Bueckers had arguably her most complete game yet with 15 points, eight dimes, and strong defense, but per league rules, she’s sidelined for at least two games.

Kamilla Cardoso was a force inside with a career-best 23 points, while veteran Ariel Atkins dropped 17 to help Chicago close the game with a 6-0 run. First-year head coach Tyler Marsh credited his team’s execution late, especially from the perimeter.

Courtney Vandersloot also made franchise history, becoming the Sky’s all-time leading scorer, passing Allie Quigley, as her veteran leadership continues to anchor a rebuilding roster.

Dallas Wings: Still Searching for Chemistry

The Wings (1-5) came up just short in Thursday’s high-scoring affair despite a monstrous 37-point explosion from Arike Ogunbowale, who now shares the league’s season-high scoring mark. Unfortunately, Dallas couldn’t close the deal after a rough start defensively gave the Sky an early boost.

DiJonai Carrington and Myisha Hines-Allen added some scoring support, but it’s clear this group is still ironing out roles and rhythm. Ogunbowale admitted postgame that rebounding issues and a flat opening quarter set the wrong tone, something that can’t happen again with Bueckers out for Chicago.

Now back home in Arlington, the Wings open as slight 2-point favorites, with the total set at 171.5, reflecting the offensive shootout we just witnessed.

Gambling Analysis & Score Prediction

With Bueckers sidelined and Dallas returning home, the edge swings slightly toward the Wings. Expect another up-tempo contest, but Dallas should capitalize on Chicago’s thinner rotation.

Score Prediction: Dallas 90, Chicago 84
Best Bet: Dallas -2.0
Total:
Over 171.5

Wings cover the spread and pick up win No. 2 in another entertaining shootout.
