Sky vs. Fever – WNBA Game Preview, Prediction and Player Props
Spread: Indiana -8.5 | Total: 169.5
Indiana Fever
The Indiana Fever are stepping into this matchup with high expectations, thanks largely to Caitlin Clark, who shattered records during her rookie season. Clark not only broke the WNBA’s single-season assist record with 337 dimes but also set the rookie scoring mark with 769 points. The Fever, who went 20-20 last season and were swept in the first round by the Connecticut Sun, are now under the leadership of Stephanie White. White previously coached Indiana back in 2015-16 and is expected to elevate Clark’s game even further.
“From a straight basketball perspective, it’s about helping (Clark) diversify her finishing ability,” White shared on the Good Follow podcast. The Fever also bolstered their roster with forward DeWanna Bonner, who is just seven points away from becoming the WNBA’s No. 3 all-time scorer. Add in Aliyah Boston, the 2023 top draft pick, and the Fever have a solid core to push for deeper playoff contention this year.
Chicago Sky
On the flip side, the Chicago Sky are rebuilding under new head coach Tyler Marsh after a disappointing 13-27 season. The main piece of their puzzle is Angel Reese, who set the WNBA’s single-season rebound record with 446 boards, averaging a staggering 13.1 per game. A late-season wrist injury cut her year short, but Marsh is adamant that Reese’s game will be more versatile in 2025. “We don’t want Angel Reese to be just a rebounder because she’s so much more than that,” Marsh emphasized during media day.
Chicago’s offseason moves were notable as well. They drafted Hailey Van Lith, a former LSU teammate of Reese, and brought back veteran point guard Courtney Vandersloot. Former All-Star Ariel Atkins was also added to the backcourt, and 6-foot-7 Kamilla Cardoso continues to dominate at center. The Sky seem ready to make noise this season with an upgraded roster and fresh energy.
Predictions & Player Props
Indiana comes into this matchup as the favorite at -8.5, and the total is set at 169.5. Expect the Fever to leverage Clark’s scoring and Bonner’s veteran leadership to control the game flow. On the player prop side, Caitlin Clark Over 21.5 Points looks promising given her aggressive scoring and newfound versatility under White’s guidance. For the Sky, Angel Reese Over 12.5 Rebounds is a solid pick her dominance on the glass should be a factor despite Indiana’s added firepower.
