**Sun Aim to Overcome Liberty in Fourth Meeting This Season**
The Connecticut Sun will attempt to secure their first victory over the New York Liberty this season when the two teams clash on Saturday night in New York.
After rallying for an 82-80 win against the Chicago Sky on Friday, the Sun (21-7) have shown resilience. Marina Mabrey, acquired from the Sky before the Paris Olympics break, played a key role in the win, contributing 24 points.
"She creates opportunities and draws defenders, making things easier for us," teammate Alyssa Thomas noted about Mabrey. "Her impact off the bench is significant, and she really stepped up today."
Since the break, the Sun have triumphed in three of their last four contests.
Meanwhile, the Liberty (25-4) are riding an eight-game winning streak, having defeated the Sun twice during this span. They opened the run with a 71-68 win in Connecticut on July 10, followed by an 82-74 victory at home on July 16.
The Liberty’s recent successes came without Sabrina Ionescu, who is sidelined with a neck injury but remains active on the bench.
"Her engagement and insight are invaluable to the team," said Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello. "She helps her teammates by sharing her observations from the sidelines."
Reports indicate that Ionescu plans to return for Saturday’s game, adding her team-leading averages of 19.9 points and 6.0 assists, which will pose an even greater challenge for the Sun in this back-to-back matchup.
