Winnipeg Jets vs. Dallas Stars Betting Preview & Prediction

Winnipeg is Moneyline Favorite at -130 | Total Set at 5.5 Goals

Two of the NHL’s top teams go head-to-head Friday night as the Dallas Stars visit the Winnipeg Jets. Both squads are in solid form, setting the stage for a high-stakes Western Conference battle with playoff implications.

Dallas Stars Outlook

The Stars enter this matchup well-rested, having had four days off, and riding a strong stretch with five wins in their last six outings. Their offense has been clicking, scoring three or more goals in 11 straight games, but they will once again be without center Roope Hintz, who is sidelined with a facial injury.

Mikko Rantanen, Dallas’ premier trade-deadline acquisition, has fit in seamlessly, registering two goals and an assist in his first two games with the team. Another midseason addition, Mikael Granlund, broke his 13-game goal drought in a 4-1 win over Vancouver on Sunday.

Goaltender Jake Oettinger is expected to be back between the pipes after backup Casey DeSmith earned the win in their last outing. Oettinger boasts a solid 6-2-1 career record against Winnipeg, posting a 2.23 GAA and .916 save percentage. He’ll need to be sharp against a Jets squad that has been stingy defensively all season.

Winnipeg Jets Outlook

The Jets have rebounded from a brief slump, winning three of their last four games after a three-game skid. Their latest victory, a tight 2-1 win over the New York Rangers, showcased their defensive discipline and elite goaltending.

Vezina Trophy frontrunner Connor Hellebuyck continues to dominate, leading the NHL in wins (38), GAA (1.99), and save percentage (.927). He stopped 21 of 22 shots against the Rangers, proving once again why he’s one of the best in the league.

Winnipeg’s offense, however, has been inconsistent. Mark Scheifele has been held off the scoresheet in back-to-back games and has just two goals in his last seven contests. The Jets will need him to find his scoring touch against a Dallas team that has been potent offensively.

Betting Prediction & Pick

Dallas has had Winnipeg’s number in recent matchups, winning four of the last six meetings, with all six staying under five total goals. The Stars’ offense has been humming, but they are running into a red-hot Hellebuyck in a tough road environment.

While Dallas has been more consistent offensively, Winnipeg’s defensive structure and goaltending give them the edge in a low-scoring battle. With the Jets needing to tighten things up before their upcoming road trip, expect a grind-it-out game with limited scoring opportunities.
