Game Preview

The Houston Astros have secured five wins out of seven on their 10-game road trip but still need to navigate three more matchups against the Minnesota Twins starting Friday night to consider the trip a success.

After a sluggish start to the season, the Astros have climbed to three games above .500, winning 12 of their last 14 games.

This week, Houston claimed three out of four games against the Toronto Blue Jays, including a 5-3 victory on Thursday. Jeremy Pena contributed with a single and a home run, boosting his season average to .280, with 12 hits and 10 RBIs over the past 10 games.

"The team has good vibes right now," Pena said. "I feel like we’re all on the same page."

All-Star Yordan Alvarez has crossed the plate 11 times in the past seven games. The Astros have scored at least five runs in 11 of their last 14 games, despite being without one of their key hitters, Kyle Tucker, who is recovering from a shin injury.

"Our goal is to finish this first half strong and play our best," Astros manager Joe Espada said. "I feel like we’re there right now. We came out here, and we took care of business."

The Twins are also on a hot streak, winning eight of their last 11 games and climbing to 11 games over .500. Their offense has been firing on all cylinders, scoring at least five runs in six of their last eight games.

This includes a 12-3, rain-shortened victory against Detroit on Thursday, where Jose Miranda and Ryan Jeffers combined for six runs, eight hits, and seven RBIs for Minnesota.
