Seattle Mariners Preview – “Woo’s House”

Seattle comes into this game with the swagger of a team that knows how to win the tight ones. With a 53-45 record, including a solid 27-21 at home, the Mariners have turned nail-biting one-run games into their brand of entertainment, 20 wins in 33 tries. Basically, if you like heart attacks in the 9th inning, Seattle is your team.

Cal Raleigh is the clear muscle of the lineup, launching 38 homers like it’s his hobby while also walking 62 times, probably because pitchers would rather see Bigfoot at the plate than face him. Dominic Canzone, meanwhile, is on a heater, hitting .424 (14-for-33) over his last 10 games. When Canzone gets going, the Mariners’ offense actually looks like it belongs in the same league as their pitching.

Bryan Woo (8-4, 2.59 ERA) will start, and he’s been pitching like a guy who found the cheat codes for baseball. With a 0.92 WHIP and 109 strikeouts, Woo’s job today is simple: make the Astros wish they stayed in the hotel.

Houston Astros Preview – “Brown Trying to Break the Funk”

The Astros might lead the AL West with a 56-42 record, but lately they’ve looked more like the “Houston Asterisks,” dropping three straight games and posting a sad 3-7 record over their last 10. Their road record is an even 23-23, which screams “meh.”

Hunter Brown (9-4, 2.43 ERA) is Houston’s best shot at ending this skid. With 137 strikeouts and the kind of fastball that could wake up the Astros’ sleepy lineup, Brown needs both his arm and the bats behind him to show up. Yainer Diaz and Victor Caratini are the only hitters worth bragging about lately, combining for timely hits while the rest of the lineup searches for answers.

Prediction – “Tight, Tense, and Totally Fun”

This game has all the makings of a pitcher’s duel, two low ERAs, a total set at just 6.5, and enough AL West tension to power a small city. Expect Seattle’s home-field advantage and Woo’s filthy stuff to carry the day, but not without a late-inning scare.

Final Score Prediction:  Mariners 3, Astros 2
Bets Bet: Seattle (-138)
