Royals vs. Cardinals – Game Betting Preview & Prediction
Moneyline: St Louis -130 | Total: 8.0
Kansas City Royals: Power Surge or Just Flash?
The Royals have desperately needed pop in their lineup, just 34 home runs and a weak 3.23 runs per game through 60 contests. That’s why they turned to top prospect Jac Caglianone, the No. 6 overall pick from the 2024 draft. The kid was a beast in the minors with 15 home runs and 56 RBIs, and though he went hitless in his MLB debut (0-for-5), he showed flashes, including getting robbed of extra bases by a stellar defensive play.
Kansas City’s offense came alive in Tuesday’s 10-7 win over St. Louis, thanks in part to Bobby Witt Jr.’s four-RBI night. Witt is confident that Caglianone’s presence alone will add depth and intimidation to the order, even if his bat hasn’t heated up just yet.
Rookie lefty Noah Cameron (2-1, 1.05 ERA) gets the nod. He’s been outstanding, pitching into the seventh inning in all four of his starts. He held the Cards to just two hits and one earned run (a Jordan Walker homer) in a tough-luck 1-0 loss back on May 17. The Royals are looking to back him up with more run support this time around.
St. Louis Cardinals: Battling Slumps & Injuries
The Cardinals are looking to rebound after dropping three of their last four. They’re navigating a brutal June schedule, 28 games in 30 days and now must build a lineup without Jordan Walker (wrist injury), which complicates things even further against a left-handed pitcher like Cameron.
Veteran right-hander Miles Mikolas (4-2, 3.90 ERA) starts for St. Louis and has historically dominated Kansas City. He’s 3-0 with a 1.67 ERA across four career starts against the Royals, including a six-inning shutout effort on May 17.
However, Mikolas is coming off a shaky outing against Baltimore, giving up four runs on nine hits in just four innings. He’ll need a bounce-back performance if the Cards want to snap their skid and hold off a suddenly confident Royals lineup.
Betting Prediction & Final Score
Expect a tighter battle this time. Mikolas should do enough to edge out a win, but don’t be surprised if Kansas City makes it sweat-worthy. The total could sneak just over.
