MLB Betting Preview: Dodgers vs. Braves — Friday Night in Atlanta
Moneyline: Dodgers -175 | Total: 9.0
Los Angeles Dodgers – Riding a Hot Streak into Atlanta
The Dodgers come into this series opener as the clear betting favorite at -175, and they’re carrying serious momentum. Winners of five straight, Los Angeles just completed a sweep of the Marlins and holds a share of the league lead in wins. They’ve already handled Atlanta once this season, sweeping them in a three-game set back in early April, and they’ll look to keep that dominance going as they open a 10-game road trip.
On the mound is Yoshinobu Yamamoto (3-2, 1.06 ERA), who has been nothing short of elite. He’s gone at least five innings in every start and has allowed no more than three runs in any of them. While he took a tough-luck loss last week against Pittsburgh, his overall command and consistency remain top-tier. Yamamoto hasn’t faced Atlanta yet this year, but he owns four shutout innings in his only career start against them.
With Tommy Edman expected to return to the lineup, the Dodgers are close to full strength and in prime position to start their road swing with another win.
Atlanta Braves – Home Underdog with Questions on the Mound
The Braves have been solid lately, going 9-3 in their last 12, but they’ll face a major test here. Grant Holmes (2-1, 4.50 ERA) will be back on the mound after a rough outing against Arizona in which he surrendered six runs and a career-high three homers. Holmes hasn’t found much success against the Dodgers either—he took a loss in their previous matchup this season, giving up four runs in four innings.
Atlanta’s offense has been steady, but they’ll need to produce early and often to support Holmes. Eddie Rosario’s return gives the lineup a familiar left-handed bat off the bench, but overall, the Braves may be overmatched on both sides of the ball in this matchup.
Betting Prediction
The Dodgers are rolling, and with Yamamoto dealing and Atlanta sending an inconsistent arm to the mound, this matchup leans heavily in L.A.’s favor. Los Angeles has already proven it can handle the Braves and should take advantage of Holmes early again.
Prediction:
Best Bet: Back the Dodgers on the runline -1.5 (-105)
Total: 9.0 (-110) looks sharp, but lean Under if Yamamoto controls the pace early
Score Prediction: Dodgers 6, Braves 2
