NHL Betting Preview: Jets vs. Blues – Game 6 Showdown in St. Louis
Moneyline: St. Louis -117 | Total: 5.5
Winnipeg Jets Outlook
The Jets enter Game 6 with a 3-2 series lead but will have to try and close things out on the road without one of their biggest contributors. Mark Scheifele, who ranks second on the team in goals (39) and points (87), was knocked out of Game 5 after a massive hit from Brayden Schenn and is now listed as day-to-day. That loss could be significant—not just for offense but for leadership and matchups.
Despite Scheifele’s absence, Winnipeg delivered its best game of the series in Game 5, skating to a 5-3 victory. Vladislav Namestnikov stepped up with a goal and an assist, showing that the Jets have enough depth to adapt. With players like Kyle Connor and Mason Appleton pushing the pace, and Vezina frontrunner Connor Hellebuyck locked in between the pipes, Winnipeg is more than capable of finishing the job—even on enemy ice.
The Jets’ defensive structure and relentless forecheck were the difference-makers last game, and they’ll need to replicate that formula to cash as road underdogs.
St. Louis Blues Outlook
The Blues return to St. Louis looking to force a Game 7, and based on what we saw in Games 3 and 4, the home crowd could be the spark they need. After falling behind 0-2 in the series, St. Louis exploded at home, winning two straight games by a combined score of 12-3. That kind of dominance can’t be ignored when evaluating the -117 moneyline.
That said, Game 5 exposed some cracks—most notably, their inability to generate chances. The Blues managed just nine shots through the first 40 minutes and rarely tested Hellebuyck in high-danger areas. Coach Jim Montgomery emphasized that the team needs better puck support, more structured defensive coverage, and a more aggressive forecheck if they hope to respond in Game 6.
Look for St. Louis to come out with urgency, especially after being outworked last game. Jordan Binnington will need to elevate his play and withstand what’s sure to be a fast start from the Jets.
Game 6 Betting Prediction
This is shaping up to be a gritty, playoff-style chess match with both teams locked in defensively and fighting for inches. With Winnipeg missing a top-line scorer and St. Louis showing signs of offensive stagnation, the Under 5.5 is well worth consideration.
In terms of the moneyline, Winnipeg’s win in Game 5 was impressive, but the Blues have proven they’re a different beast at home. Expect a bounce-back from St. Louis and a strong push to extend the series.
