Game Preview

The Houston Astros clinched a series win with a thrilling 7-6 walk-off victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday, and now aim for a sweep in this clash of division leaders on Sunday.

Houston’s bullpen has been pivotal in this series, with six relievers combining to surrender just two runs across 7 1/3 innings. With right-handers Tayler Scott and Bryan Abreu having pitched in both games so far, Astros manager Joe Espada may look to other bullpen arms in Sunday’s finale.

"Our bullpen has been terrific," Espada stated. "They have been so good. We could not be in this position without those guys."

For Sunday’s game, rookie right-hander Spencer Arrighetti (4-8, 5.65 ERA) will take the mound for Houston. Despite a rough patch with no wins in his last four starts and only one win in his last nine outings, Arrighetti aims to rebound. His last appearance saw him yield four runs over six innings in a 4-0 loss to Oakland.

Facing the Dodgers for the first time, Arrighetti’s counterpart will be rookie River Ryan, making his second major league start for Los Angeles. In his debut, Ryan allowed one unearned run over 5 1/3 innings against the San Francisco Giants, showing promise despite not securing the win.

Additionally, the Dodgers will be without All-Star first baseman Freddie Freeman, who is on the family emergency list after returning to Los Angeles before the series began.
