Los Angeles Dodgers Betting Preview
The Dodgers are in unfamiliar territory, dropping four straight games after a lopsided 9-1 defeat in Monday’s series opener. That’s their longest losing streak of the season and matches their worst skid since May 2023. Fortunately, Los Angeles sends future Hall of Famer Clayton Kershaw to the mound in an effort to stop the bleeding.
Kershaw (4-0, 3.43 ERA) has been sharp since returning from the IL, especially in June, where he posted a 2.28 ERA in five starts. He’s also dominated Milwaukee in recent meetings, winning his last three starts against them while allowing just three earned runs across 17.2 innings. With 3,000 strikeouts now under his belt and his 11th All-Star nod secured, expect Kershaw to pitch with authority.
Los Angeles will need to tighten up defensively after Monday’s sloppy performance that included a disastrous 41-pitch, two-out outing from Yoshinobu Yamamoto. With Kershaw leading the charge, the Dodgers have the edge in the bounce-back spot.
Milwaukee Brewers Betting Preview
Milwaukee couldn’t have asked for a better start to the series. They crushed Dodgers pitching early with a five-run first inning, highlighted by Andrew Vaughn’s three-run bomb in his first plate appearance since being recalled. Freddy Peralta shut the door with six clean frames, and the Brewers have now won three straight games.
The ball now goes to Jacob Misiorowski (3-1, 3.20 ERA), the 23-year-old flamethrower who has dazzled in his rookie campaign. He’s holding hitters to a paltry .123 average and has been nearly untouchable outside of a rough second inning in his last start, when he gave up five runs to the Mets, including a grand slam.
Milwaukee’s offense has also caught fire, led by Christian Yelich, who extended his on-base streak to 19 games and is batting .355 over that span. The Brewers are 7-3 in their last 10 games and have covered the run line in five of their last six wins.
Betting Prediction
With Kershaw on the mound and the Dodgers desperate to avoid a five-game slide, this is a prime buy-low spot for L.A. Misiorowski has impressed, but facing the Dodgers’ lineup is a different kind of test than his earlier starts. The total at 8.5 is a bit steep given the pitching matchup, but the Dodgers’ recent bullpen woes could help the over sneak in.
