Game Preview
The division-leading Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers will send a combined 13 players to the All-Star Game next week, but first, they face off in a crucial three-game series starting Tuesday in Philadelphia.
Phillies ace Zack Wheeler (9-4, 2.74 ERA), one of the team’s record seven All-Stars, will pitch the opener. Wheeler, along with Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, Alec Bohm, Ranger Suarez, Jeff Hoffman, and Matt Strahm, will represent the Phillies at the Midsummer Classic on July 16 in Arlington, Texas.
"It could be more than that," Wheeler said of the Phillies’ All-Star selections. "It shows how well we’ve been playing as a group. Everyone on the roster contributes to every game and our success."
In his last start against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday, Wheeler allowed five hits and two runs over six innings in a no-decision. He holds a 2-2 record with a 4.72 ERA in six career starts against the Dodgers.
